BIOGRAPHY AND ABOUT
Donna Stewart was born and raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. She pursued pottery and papermaking in Kelowna for many years then, 18 years ago she chose the more relaxed lifestyle of the Sunshine Coast. It was here she discovered her love of painting . A close friend and fellow artist encouraged her to simply pick up a brush and try a few things. Her excitement for painting grew and she developed her own unique style.
Donna is a self taught artist. Rules are not her idea of capturing the creative spirit. Experimentation is her favorite form of expression. She chooses mixed media abstract because of its freedom .She loves the challenge of new techniques and recreating old ones. Her inspiration comes from lines, colors and textures she sees everyday. Each painting begins with an open mind she works from instinct, using texture and color, letting the painting evolve until it achieves its final destiny.
Donna uses a multi-media( eg. cement/ texture media) approach working predominately with cement and acid stains. Yes ” Concrete ” although there has been a lot of trial and error she is really enjoying not only the process but the outcome. Contemporary mixed media abstract would best describe her paintings.
